Privacy policy.

This policy covers Klarsicht Redaktion, the app we use at social.klarsicht.io to manage our own LinkedIn presence. It follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our website is covered by our German privacy policy at klarsicht.io/datenschutz/.

2 · What the app does

Klarsicht Redaktion is our internal editorial tool. Only our own team uses it, to manage the LinkedIn company page “Klarsicht LLC” and the LinkedIn profile of our co-founder. We do not sell the app or offer it to anyone else.

3 · Data from LinkedIn’s APIs

From our own accounts: access tokens, LinkedIn ID and name. From other LinkedIn members who comment on our posts, react to them or reply to our comments: the member’s ID and the comment’s ID, and the comment text when we retrieve it. We do not request names, photos or job titles of other members. We do not use the APIs to read posts of other companies’ pages.

We use this data to look after our own LinkedIn presence. We publish posts, read comments and reply to them ourselves, and we measure the reach of our posts. An AI model sorts new comments on our posts and new replies to our comments. If a comment responds to our post with substance or agrees with it, our page or our co-founder likes it automatically. The AI does not write replies or posts.

We do not store comment texts. We show them only when we retrieve them, and we pass them to Anthropic for sorting. Whether a comment should get a like is kept for at most 48 hours. We keep IDs of members, comments and posts for up to twelve months, including the ID of each comment we liked. The same applies to statistics of our company page’s posts, which contain no data on individual people. We delete our access tokens when we disconnect an account. We do not pass data from LinkedIn’s APIs to messaging services. We do not sell it, combine it with other data or use it for advertising, sales, recruiting or lead generation.

For sorting, we send the comment text together with the text of our own post to Anthropic PBC (Claude), San Francisco, USA, through its API. Names, profile data and IDs of members and their comments are not sent to Anthropic. Anthropic processes this data as our processor under the data processing addendum that is part of its Commercial Terms. For the transfer to the USA we rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR) agreed in that addendum. Anthropic states that it deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days and does not use them to train its models. Data is kept longer only while Anthropic reviews a possible breach of its usage policy (up to two years), or where the law requires it.

4 · Comment suggestions from Google Alerts and web search

To comment on other people’s posts, we read Google Alerts on our subject areas. They list public LinkedIn posts with a title, a short excerpt and a link. Our software also uses OpenAI’s Codex to search the web for public LinkedIn posts from the last three days on our subject areas. Codex runs on our co-founder’s ChatGPT account, which is governed by OpenAI’s terms of use for individuals. There is no data processing agreement for it. We send OpenAI only our fixed search request with subject areas, time frame, language, the kind of authors we look for and the answer format, and no data on individual people. OpenAI itself processes the search results. We get back the link, the title and a short description of each post, which Codex writes from the search results. We instruct Codex not to open LinkedIn itself and to use only the search results. OpenAI’s privacy policy applies (openai.com/policies/privacy-policy).

Title, link and excerpt or description from both sources go to Claude by Anthropic, which picks suitable posts and drafts a comment. For this we use our co-founder’s Claude subscription, which runs under Anthropic’s consumer terms. There is no data processing agreement and there are no standard contractual clauses for it. Anthropic’s privacy policy applies (anthropic.com/legal/privacy). Our co-founder gets the suggestion with author, excerpt or description, link and our draft comment with its source for approval in the messaging service Telegram (Telegram Messenger Inc., British Virgin Islands; Telegram stores data of users from the EEA in data centres in the Netherlands). We publish a comment only after our co-founder approves it. We delete the author, excerpt or description and key point of the post once the comment is published or the suggestion is rejected, and at the latest three days after we found the post. The link and ID of the post and our own comment are kept for up to twelve months. So that we do not suggest a post twice, we also keep its link for 30 days in a list of handled posts.

6 · Recipients

The app runs on our servers at IONOS SE in Germany, under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). Other recipients are Anthropic, OpenAI and Telegram as described above. With transfers to the USA there remains a general risk that US authorities access the data.

7 · Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data (Art. 15), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17), to restrict processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). An informal email to info@klarsicht.io is enough. We usually reply within seven days, and always within the legal deadline of one month.

8 · Right to complain

You may complain to a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). Ours is:
